Our Mission
To implement a scalable, data-driven poverty reduction strategy leveraging government, nonprofit, business, and faith-based partnerships, ensuring economic empowerment, housing stability, workforce development, and improved quality of life for Mooretown residents.
Strategic Pillars & Initiatives
1. Economic Empowerment & Workforce Development
Goal: Increase job opportunities, entrepreneurial support, and workforce readiness.
• Mooretown Business Incubator; Entrepreneurship Hub: Establish a hub with free business coaching, micro-loans, and legal support for small businesses.
• Workforce Training & Placement Program: Partner with local businesses, community colleges, and workforce agencies to provide job training in high-demand sectors
(e.g., healthcare, logistics, tech, construction).
• Community Hiring Pledge: Work with the DA, sheriff, and police chief to support second-chance employment for formerly incarcerated individuals.
• Youth Apprenticeship & Internship Program: Partner with the school board and local businesses to create paid apprenticeships for high schoolers.
2. Housing Stability & Neighborhood Revitalization
Goal: Ensure affordable, safe, and quality housing for Mooretown residents.
• Mooretown Homeownership Initiative: Partner with HUD-type city programs, local banks, and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to provide first-time
homebuyer grants and credit counseling.
• Affordable Housing Development: Work with city planning and private developers to build mixed-income housing, incorporating tax incentives for affordability.
• Housing Repair; Energy Efficiency Grants: Leverage federal and state funds to assist homeowners in making necessary repairs.
• Mooretown Safety; Beautification Program: Launch a community-led effort with the sheriff, fire chief, and police chief to reduce crime, clean vacant lots, and restore public
spaces.
3. Education & Early Childhood Development
Goal: Break the cycle of poverty by investing in education from early childhood to career.
• Mooretown Early Learning Academy: Partner with Ignite Classical School and local schools to expand early childhood education access.
• Third-Grade Success Initiative: Expand Project Seek to ensure all third-grade boys are reading at grade level, with tutoring and family literacy programs.
• After-School & Summer Enrichment Programs: Work with local schools, churches, and nonprofits to provide free after-school STEM, arts, and sports programming.
• Scholarship & College Access Program: Partner with the Community Foundation to fund scholarships for first-generation college students.
4. Health & Well-Being
Goal: Improve access to healthcare, mental health services, and food security.
• Mooretown Health & Wellness Center: Establish a community health hub in partnership with local hospitals and clinics to provide free screenings, telehealth services, and
mental health support.
• Mental Health & Trauma Support: Expand Project Care to provide faith-based counseling and crisis intervention.
• Food Security & Nutrition Program: Expand the Morning Star MBC Community Garden and launch a mobile fresh food market in partnership with local farmers and food banks.
5. Criminal Justice Reform & Public Safety
Goal: Address systemic inequities and promote community-led public safety strategies.
• Alternative to Incarceration Program: Work with the DA and courts to expand diversion programs for nonviolent offenses.
• Neighborhood Policing & Violence Prevention: Partner with the police chief and sheriff to implement a community policing model that builds trust.
• Community Resilience Hub: Expand the Community Lighthouse initiative to provide emergency shelter and resources during crises
